The club has sea kayaks, river kayaks, canoes and kit which is available to borrow when attending club trips.
If you are planning on joining us on a club trip and would like to "book" a boat then please do so by emailing us at [email protected] - kit is made available on a first come, first served basis and the order in which emails are received is used to avoid any misunderstandings. We are very fortunate in that several of our members have spare boats which they occasionally make available for others to use; arrangements may be made through the club or directly with boat owners. We do our best to help with transport but you may need to make your own arrangements to collect and return borrowed kit.
In all cases we ask for a contribution of £10 per day to help towards the upkeep, maintenance or replacement of kit. It goes without saying that borrowed kit must be treated with respect and advice should be sought if unsure as to what this entails. Any damage to or loss of kit should be addressed realistically bearing in mind that all our kit, whether belonging to the club or an individual, had to be paid for and kept in a safe and serviceable condition.
Trip Leaders are responsible for ensuring that all kit used on club trips is appropriate for the proposed activity; please take any advice offered in the spirit intended as we are primarily concerned with your safety. Trip Leaders have access to club safety bags and are responsible for ensuring that appropriate safety kit is available on trips which they are leading. This will include, as a minimum, an appropriate First Aid kit, group shelter and spare warm clothing and will be adapted to suit the circumstances of each trip. Should the First Aid kit be used please report the circumstances to the club safety officer as soon as possible so that any used items are replaced and, where possible, lessons learned.
If you have any questions regarding or would like to book any kit, please email us at [email protected]
