Despite our best endeavours and deploying competent coaches and leaders, following best practice guidelines and risk assessing our activities, it must be recognised that paddlesport in all its forms is an "assumed risk activity". This means that we cannot remove all risk of something going wrong and the possibility that participants may be injured or even killed.
If an incident - an unplanned event either giving rise to the possibility of injury (a "near-miss") or resulting in injury or loss of equipment should occur during a club activity, we ask that those involved report their understanding of the incident. By doing this we are able to reflect on the circumstances and sequence of events and learn. By learning we should be able to improve, avoid any recurrence and be safer in our paddling. Incident reporting is not about being judgemental, pointing the finger or assigning blame - it is a no-fault, learning opportunity.
If you are involved in an incident, near miss or would like to bring something to the attention of the club committee, please download an incident observation and report form (click here) and forward it to our Safety Officer or any committee member.
